Version 5.50 of ServerView Operations Manager provides the following new functionality:
IPv6 support iRMC in OM ======================= The OM supports IPV6 addresses for iRMC nodes. You can define an IPV6 address in the ServerBrowser. In addition, the OM uses the IPV6 information provided by the SV agent starting from version 5.10.
Show trust status in Serverlist =============================== In ServerList Table a column for the "Trust Relation State" for communications with ServerView Services on the managed node has been inserted. Minimum poll interval: 30 minutes! With an Explore action an update is made.
RBAC Sign in_out events ======================= ServerView provides component specific logging of the actions of a user. With ServerView Operations Manager V5.50.09, only the component Central Authentication Service (CAS) creates audit log entries. Under Linux the audit logging information is written into a UTF-8 encoded file named audit.log, which is located in the directory /var/log/fujitsu/ServerViewSuite/jboss. The file is renewed every day, renaming the respective old version to audit.log.YYY-MM-DD.log. Under Windows the audit logging information is written into the “Application” event log.
GUI for OpenDS ============== A new submenu “User Management” under the menu „Security“ is offered within the welcome screen. Settings of openDS can be changed if the user is privileged. For this purpose the user ‘UserManager’ with password ‘admin’ is available. Normal users only can change their own password here.
Special handling of svuser ========================== The password for the special administrative user ‘svuser’ cannot be changed by the OpenDS GUI. The change has to be done locally in the setup GUI on Windows and the setup procedure and the script ChangeComputerDetails.sh on Linux. - new installation: The password for svuser has to be configured - upgrade/modify: The password can be changed
New Fields in the SERVER_LIST DB table ====================================== The BMC IP Address used by the ServerList Service to obtain BMC information has now been added to the SERVER_LIST DB Table. It will be automatically exported to a .csv file when the user has called Export Servers, and if found, will be imported when using Import Servers.
BMC Property page changes ========================= If your server has a BMC, and has already been discovered by the ServerList Service, you will see a combo box containing one or more BMC addresses. You can either choose one of these addresses, or enter your own in the IP Address edit boxes. There is also a checkbox with the title “Always use this address for the BMC”, which if checked, means that this address will be permanently stored in the SERVER_LIST and not changed by the ServerList Service during polling.
VIOM Enhancements ================= In ServerList Table a column for the "Viom Management State" shows which managed nodes are supervised by VIOM. This column is only visible if VIOM ist installed on the Management Station. In Single System View the status icons are visible in the Cabinet data.
Automatic Event Manager Configuration ===================================== Four new macros are defined: $_OMS : Servername where this Operation Manager is installed $_MIB : The mib filename of the received alarm $_SPC : The specific number of the received alarm $_MDL : The Fujitsu REMCS ID of the hardware reporting the alarm
RH6 with KVM - Support of Threshold and Performance =================================================== KVM is now supported in the same way as other virtualization types: VMWare ESX, Microsoft HyperV, Xen, CitrixXen.
Performance/Threshold monitoring: extended support for storageUsage parameter ============================================================================= Now for physical servers extended support for storageUsage parameter is offered. This means not only average value but also instance values (here C:\, D:\, E:\) are displayed and configurable.
Implementation of Tooltips for Server-Tree ========================================== Tooltips for the displayed servers in ServerTree are offered with: Server List Alarm Monitor Archive Manager Inventory Manager Server Configuration Manager The content of the tooltip depends on the length of the server name. If the name is longer as the display field in the tree so that it is truncated, the name is displayed in the first line of the tooltip. The second line then contains the server type. Otherwise only the server type is displayed.
Phasing out of MSDE 2000/SQL Server 2000 ======================================== The Microsoft Support Lifecycle (MSL) for MSDE 2000 and SQL Server 2000 ends in April 2013. From then on no security update support is available any longer for these products. On Windows Server 2008 Microsoft never supported MSDE 2000/SQL Server 2000. Therefore MSDE 2000 and SQL Server 2000 are no longer suitable SQL Server instances since ServerView Operations Manager V5.50. For this reason some installation changes arise on Windows Server 2003. With a ServerView new installation an SQL Server 2005 Express with the instance name SQLSERVERVIEW will be installed as part of the ServerView Operations Manager installation. With ServerView upgrade installation an upgrade of an English or Japanese MSDE 2000 to an English or Japanese SQL Server 2005 Express will be installed automatically at the beginning of the ServerView Operations Manager installation. An MSDE 2000 with a different language as English resp. Japanese must be upgraded manually.
Watchdog for SVOM on Linux ========================== The scheduler services have been adapted for monitoring of their processes by the Linux Watchdog Concept.
Improved Startpage SV OM ======================== More information about the components is displayed if the mouse is dragged over the link of a component. If you move you mouse over the Help->About topic, you will see the current version and date of your SVOM installation.
Single System View Power Supply Status Enhancements ================================================== The subsystem Power Supply contains two important elements: - the status of the power supplies themselves - the status of the Power Level if monitoring is enabled. A new emphasis is focusing on Power Supply Redundancy and Configuration. For this reason, the Power Supply element has been split into 5 views: - Power Supply Summary - Power Supply View - Power Level View - Power Redundancy View - Configuration View
BCW enhancement for InventoryManager ==================================== To do a base setting for the Inventory Manager a new view for usage and simple scheduling is offered in Base Configuration Wizard.
Import server to group ====================== A new enhancement has been added to the Import Server functionality. It is now possible to select a group in the ServerList, open the context-sensitive menu and import servers (using a normal .csv file) directly into that group. The Servers imported to the ServerList as usual, and then inserted into the selected group.
New icon for switch blades ========================== Switch blades are displayed in a blade group together with cpu blades. Up to now the same status icons have been used. To avoid misunderstanding here, new icons for switch blades are introduced.
Inventory Manager ================= S31.mib based InventoryData for SwitchBlades New GUI layout for Data Collection, Export and Presentation Customized Data Collection Support of system history data (status, temperature, performance) Graphical layout for report data.

Bugfixes Change Requests
General Restrictions ====================
Linux SuSE SLES / RHEL 64bit Itanium (ia64) are not supported. IA64 will not be supported at all.
openLDAP not supported
Linux: SuSE SLES 11 without service pack is not supported, because generating of certificates does not work.
Windows: “Change computer details” is not supported – use user setup with option “Modify” instead. For details see Release Notes (Chapter 5.1.3).
Windows, Linux: Password for keystore and truststore is fix(‘changeit’) and this password is stored in a text file. For the future it is planned to change access rights for this directory. For better security, it is strongly recommended that you change the predefined passwords as soon as possible.
A management station which supports IP V6 only, cannot be used as platform for ServerView. For proper functions a V4 address is necessary locally. Managed nodes (servers) can have V6 only.
Installation / Deinstallation =============================
Upgrade installation is only supported from ServerView >= V4.92.14
Windows: Silent installation in modus ‘modify’ does not work. The installation gets cancelled.
Installation of ServerView Operations Manager on a network-drive is not supported.
SVOM/Linux: Support of monitoring virtual machines in RHEL6/KVM This support is only possible for RHEL 5, RHEL6, SLES11. Support for SLES10 is not possible as the version of package libvirt does not provide the necessary functionality. Customer needs to install the package libvirt (for RHEL 5 and SLES11) and package libvirt-client on RHEL6. You find the package libvirt on the distribution DVD. For RHEL5 it is located in directory VT.
Windows Server 2008 ===================
As the up to now used messenger service does not exist on W2K8 (and Vista) anymore, the command ‘msg’ is used instead. Broadcast to domains is not possible with this command and cannot be used on W2K8 therefore! Message length in msg is restricted to 255 characters. Messages for popup and broadcast are truncated at 255 characters. Due to the service hardening concept in Windows 2008, no interactive applications can be called via alarm forwarding (destination type ‘executable’). Such applications are started, but display no GUI and hang in background.
Windows Server 2008 R2 ======================
Sporadically installation ends prematurely. Windows Application Event Log contains message “…Installation success or error status: 1603” or “Faulting application MsiExec.exe”. Workaround: rerun the installation
The function to restrict the access to some folders below jboss for JBoss user and Administrators only, does not work reliable on W2K8 R2. Therefore it had to be removed.
