Comment:Version 4.92 of ServerView Operations Manager provides the following new functionality: Sirius Support ============== SIRIUS systems are recognized by the server browser and can be added to the server list. The server type is PRIMEQUEST. A SIRIUS is handled like a BladeServer. The ServerList show the partitions instead of blades. Base Configuration Wizard ========================= The essential settings for SV Operations Manager shall be settable in a wizard. This wizard appears automatically the first time OM is called after installation. It also can be called from the menu bar at any time. On Welcome screen of ServerView Suite there will be a new link “Base Configuration Wizard” at “Administration” Muted Mode ========== In Alarm Configuration, servers can be put into a list of ‘muted’ servers, from which no alarms are displayed. (Filter Server). This property of a server is now displayed in server list too and can be changed there. This can also be done for groups. The ‘muted’ property for a group is only visible in the ‘Filter Servers’ Alarm Configuration dialog. ETERNUS DX60/80 =============== ETERNUS DX60/80 systems are recognized by server browser and can be added as storage nodes. You need a valid user/password combination in the user/password table for correct configuration. For more detailed information refer to the StorManIntegrationEIS.doc document. SSH for BX900 ============= SSH access to a BX900 iRMC is now offered Suppress automatic IP address check in server list ================================================== Windows: In a setup dialog and in the dialog ‘Change computer details’ a checkbox can be used to enable an automatic check of the IP address of the management station during startup of the ServerView services. The value of this checkbox now is stored in the database and is used by server list service too. If the check is not enabled, the IP address of the local server is not adapted automatically to changes. It has to be changed in server properties manually. Installation Manager integration ================================ If Installation Manager is installed, a link to it is added to the Operations Manager menu bar: Deployment / Installation Manager Citrix XEN ========== Citrix XEN is now supported and handled like XEN before. Show Master/Slave status for Switch Blades ========================================== In the blade list the master/slave status for switch blades is displayed Sortable Column for event number in System Event log ==================================================== A new column is added to the system event log of blade servers. It allows sorting according to the message sequence from the agent "Video Redirection" for Remote Management and Confirm pages =========================================================== A new button has been added to the “Remote Management” if the Server has a bmc configured which allows for Video Redirection. If pressed the Advanced Video Redirection for the Server will be started in a new window. If the server is not manageable, this functionality is also available in the Confirm Box called from the ServerList window. New column "Account Used For" in user/password dialog ===================================================== In the user/password table a new column is added to store a customer comment. The comment can be added in the user/password dialog Automatic iRMC IP address recognition for ESXi ============================================== The IP address of an iRMC in a system with ESXi installed now is retrieved by CIM/WS-Man. This is only possible, if a patch from VMWare is installed. This patch will be available earliest in December 2009 and is the first patch after ESXi 3.5 U5 or ESXi 4.0 U1. It is necessary to have a valid user/password combination for authentication to VMWare ESXi in the user/password table configured! Recovery Model for DB (Windows) =============================== During the installation of Operations Manager the SQL server backup mode is selectable. Version 4.92 of ServerView Update Manager / - CLI provides the following new functionality: new feature of SV Operations Manager ==================================== Linux Download Manager new function of Download Manager ================================ adaption to Style Guide V2.0 (GUI) support of user/password protected proxy for Inernet connection new function of Update Manager ============================== Automatic Update of GlobalFlash Agent/ Update Agent if necessary Create Job Wizard/Copy Job Wizard, Step Enter Job Name: WebUser/WebPassword for Web Server on Management Station (PRIMEQUEST server only) new function of Configuration Wizard ==================================== Step Miscellaneous: Proxy Settings for Download Manager new function for Command Line Interface of SV UM/SV UM CLI ========================================================== Online/OfflineFlash Server: Check of update type via ModelCheckTable Support of new systems ====================== RX300 S6 TX300 S6 PRIMEQUEST 1400E PRIMEQUEST 1400L PRIMEQUEST 1400S PRIMEQUEST 1800E PRIMEQUEST 1800L Virtual Guest Systems support of new Operating System on managed Node =============================================== VMWare ESX 4.0 support of new component (Online Flash, Windows, Linux) ======================================================= PRIMEQUEST: Unified Firmware removed param for Command Line Interface of SV UM/SV UM CLI =========================================================== param -Z indicates Offline Flash Server removed OS for SV UM CLI Linux ============================== SLES 9 HINTS AND RESTRICTIONS ====================== Installation / Deinstallation ============================= * Windows: No upgrade from ServerView V3.60 to V4.40 supported. * Windows: No upgrade from ServerView V4.30 supported. * Silent installation in modus ‘modify’ does not work. The installation gets cancelled. * Installation of ServerView Operations Manager on a network-drive is not supported * New Installation of ServerView Update Manager >= V4.81.05 - Download Manager - Configuration Wizard / Step Miscellaneous Name of Web-Server has changed (IP-Address did not change). old: support.fujitsu-siemens.com new: support.ts.fujitsu.com * Threshold sets from Performance Manager < 4.90 cannot be deactivated any more after upgrade installation Necessary action to be done by customers described now in the ReadMe file Internet Information Services (IIS) =================================== * If IIS is used, the user for anonymous access needs access rights for the SQL database. You may specify under which user the anonymous access is done during the setup phase. * IIS on X64 is not supported anymore. Only if a predecessor version is installed with IIS, an upgrade is still possible. Windows Server 2008 =================== * As the up to now used messenger service does not exist on W2K8 (and Vista) anymore, the command ‘msg’ is used instead. Broadcast to domains is not possible with this command and cannot be used on W2K8 therefore! * Message length in msg is restricted to 255 characters. Messages for popup and broadcast are truncated at 255 characters. * Due to the service hardening concept in Windows 2008, no interactive applications can be called via alarm forwarding (destination type ‘executable’). Such applications are started, but display no GUI and hang in background. Update Repository ================= * The Update Repository is delivered with - the current ServerView Suite Update CD for Windows <= V6.704: with PSPs >= V6.705: without PSPs >= V10.09.07: Update Repository was removed - the current Server Start DVD >= V6.705: including PSPs - For internal use these files are stored on the server Augsburg\all under the path images\SERVER\PRIMERGY\GF_Primergy_Firmware * Update Repository, Content: After successful Systemtest the new components will be added * Windows Mgmt.Station using local Update Repository Directory above directory "globalflash" - must be reserved exclusive for Update Management (user data not allowed) Update Management ================= ServerView Update Manager >=V4.92.xx (Win/Linux) and ServerView Update Manager CLI >=V4.92.xx (Win/Linux) support: a) Online Flash Server - GlobalFlash Agent Windows/Linux V4.60.xx All possible Updates are offered inclusive Update to SV Update Agent >=V4.80 b) Offline Flash Server - GlobalFlash Agent Windows/Linux V4.60.xx All possible Updates are offered inclusive Update to Global Flash Agent >=V4.71 - no support of OS=Win2000 on managed Node - no support of Controller RSB S2 LP c) virtual Systems - SV Update Manager/Update Manager CLI: Host-/Guest-Systems - Download Manager: Host-/Guest-Systems d) Management Blades - BX600 MMB S2/S3, BX900 MMB S1 - Update via SV Update Manager CLI: use param -Y (for assigning external Inventory) use param -K (for community other than public) * ServerView Update Manager (GUI) >= V4.91 (Windows/Linux): Switch on suppression of the server without GlobalFlash Agent/SV Update Agent (default: off) Set value in file: \\ServerView\Download\BuildUpdateDiff.ini param: SHOW_SERVERS_WITHOUT_GF_AGENT=NO (default: YES) Default-Value must be changed before the very first Inventory-Run. * First Installation/Product Detection of Primergy Support Packages First Installation/Product Detection of Primergy Support Packages Requirements on the Server: - Primergy Support Package “FSC_SCAN” - Tools “PrimeUp” >= V1.15.25 The version of PSP “FSC_SCAN” and Tools “PrimeUp” which is delivered with the Update Repository has to be installed. (Always the newest package version has to be used) First installation Is possible for all PSPs. Product Detection The ServerView Update Agent calls the detection function - at every boot or - after a done update automatically. The results of the detection are presented at the ServerView Update Manager. Case “Not installed” Example: Customer has installed the hardware. The drivers of related products have to be installed for using this hardware. A "faked" PSP with Version "0.0.0.0" is created to show the needed product/driver. Now a real PSP may be installed. Case “Newer Product installed” Example: Customer has installed a very new driver (perhaps beta), which is not produced actually as PSP at FTS site. A "faked" PSP with Version "99.99.99.99" is created, to protect the customers product against unfortunately overwriting/ updating by ServerView Update Manager. If later a PSP with this product/driver version or newer exists, the protection is canceled and the PSP may be installed/updated with the real PSP version belonging to this product/driver. Case “Equal product detected” Example: Customer has installed the actual product not as PSP by himself (native). A "faked" PSP with the real Version is created. This PSP may be updated to the real version or newer. Case “Previous product version detected” Example: Customer has installed an older product than the product version of the actual PSP and the product is not installed as PSP but by the customer himself (native). Because it is an older version than the version in the actual PSP, a "faked" PSP with Version "x.x.99.99" is created. (x.x Version of the actual PSP -1). An update to the actual version (real version) is possible. Product detection is available for almost every PSP * Primergy Support Packages, Windows 2008 R2 Requirement: PrimeUp V1.15.24 * ServerView Update Manager The component version of Primergy Support Packages is not displayed in “Update Details" "Show Details” * Management Blades (TFTP-Flash) - MMB S2: Sporadical hang up Workaround, if 2 MMB S2 are built in: NIC Status Detection: enable - HTTP SSL is not supported - Community other than "public" is possible (read/write permission is needed) * Management Blades, Server Blades No parallel Update Jobs of Management Blade and Server Blades. Update Job of Management Blades must be finished before Update Job of Server Blades can be started, and vice versa. * Management Blades BX900 MMB S1 With FW >=4.24D please use SV Update Manager >=V4.91.09. * Management Blades BX600 MMB S2, SV Update Manager Linux Password Check is done during Update. * TFTP-Server (Update of Management Blades) Requirement on TFTP-Server: - Fujitsu PXE Server - GlobalFlash Agent Win V4.71 or SV Update Agent Win V4.91 * Offline Flash Server, PXE-Boot + PXE-/TFTP-Server Requirement on PXE-/TFTP-Server: - Fujitsu PXE Server - GlobalFlash Agent Win V4.71 IP V6 is not supported. * Offline Flash Server, PXE-/TFTP-Server If PXE-Flash could not be executed because - Boot-Sequence within BIOS did not contain the LAN-Contr. for PXE-Boot - the LAN-Contr. with the PXE-Boot is not on first place - perhaps the PXE-Server was not found during PXE-Boot and therefore the managed Node booted into OS again. => SV UM GUI: Job Status flashing forever Workaround: - kill process UpdateAction_ - fix problem - copy job and run it again * OfflineFlash Server, Update via PXE-Boot a) Update Job contains only FW/BIOS - Update Manager: ignore Job Status “error” with error “Jobs lost” because Update/Reboot/Rescan/Cleanup were done correct. b) Update Job contains FW/BIOS and additional other components and 1 other component fails - Wait till Reboot is done - Update Manager: Ignore Job Status “Rebooting” - Update Manager > card Server Details: execute Cleanup for this managed Node - Inventory Manager: execute “Recollect Asset Data from Agent” for this managed Node * OfflineFlash Server, Update via Service Partition Update Job contains only PSPs which need a Reboot: - Wait till Reboot is done - Update Manager: Ignore Job Status “error” with error “undefined agent” - Update Manager > card Server Details: execute Cleanup for this managed Node - Inventory Manager: execute “Recollect Asset Data from Agent” for this managed Node * Offline Flash Server, Flash Abort Dialog: If Flash Abort Dialog is answered with °`Cancel°` then reaction of GlobalFlash Manager causes errors. Workaround: Administrator has to cancel this job and create the job again. * PRIMEQUEST 1400E/L/S, 1800E/L a)Requirement for Update of Unified Firmware on Management Station: Update Agent Win/LX >=V4.92.02 Management Station must be an OnlineFlash Server b)No parallel Update Jobs for Unified Firmware on different PRIMEQUESTs. c)Command Line Interface of SV UM/UM CLI Win/LX does not support Update of Unified Firmware. d)No support for Update of Unified Firmware on LongLife models PRIMEQUEST 1400L and 1800L. e)ServerView Agents Win V4.92.42 / Linux V4.92-46 do not support Firmware Version of SAS-Controller in Non-RAID-Modus: 3442E-15A5, GSPB SS1064E More information see Manual V4.92, chapter “Prerequisites for updating PRIMEQUEST servers”. * Download Manager, Repository Location - Problems with blank in path-name Configuration Wizard, Step Repository Location Blank in path „Repository Location“ creates problems * ServerView Update Manager Displayed data is not always refreshed * Download Manager, Logfiles Not all logfiles are shown -> cannot be deleted with Download Manager * Download Manager, Logfiles Download Manager hangs when too many logfiles are available * Download Manager: Refresh/Window built up - No Refresh after executing Scheduled Tasks/adding new server/... Workaround: Close/Reopen Download Manager - Window can’t be built up Workaround: Close/Reopen Download Manager * Download Manager “Predefined proxy settings” Test connectivity/Download may not work. Workaround: Configuration Wizard: Use Proxy server ... * Update Manager: Refresh/Window built up - Sometimes output of Update Manager disappears Workaround: Close/Reopen Update Manager Miscellaneous ============= * ServerView Operations Manager + VIOM: If VIOM is installed on the Management Station, the following behaviour is seen after upgrade installation of ServerView Operations Manager: "The page cannot be displayed" After reboot is done, ServerView Operations Manager works ok again. * Firefox >= V3.5: Windows: You have to enable "next-generation Java Plug-in" in Java Control Panel. * Internet Explorer 8 should only be used with Compatibility View ServerView OM 4.92.11: Import Server does not work for some server lists Server lists not exported by ServerView Operations Manager 4.92 may be impossible to be imported again. In such cases please add a column header "UnitClass" at the end of the first line of the exported server list.
