Description:
What should be considered when upgrading to Microsoft Windows Vista®?
Solution:

Please note that we can only support Fujitsu Systems which are specified in the Windows Vista Capable List or have been delivered with Windows Vista.

Fujitsu recommends the following proceeding:

  1. Always accomplish a complete data backup before the update!

  2. Make sure before an update whether your system fulfills the necessary minimum requirements for the desired Windows Vista version. To check, download the Microsoft Tool Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor. If your hardware should not be suitable, you should abstain from updating your system.

  3. Examine whether all on your system installed software is suitable for Microsoft Vista. Also for this you can use the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor. If software should not be capably characterized for Windows Vista here, uninstall this software before the installation of Vista and do not reinstall this software after the installation of Windows Vista in this version. An update of the appropriate software is mandatory. If you should use the software nevertheless, the stability of the system is not ensured.

  4. Install the current version of the System Bios for your PC.

  5. If you want to update an already installed operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows XP), install all available driver updates for your installed operating system. After the driver update run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor again.

  6. If no more warnings are displayed, you can install Windows Vista on your system.
