Information update for Battery Charging Control
Fujitsu is continuously seeking ways to improve the efficiency and safety of our PC products for the benefit of our end users, both on new models and on those previously manufactured and sold
In furtherance of that effort, Fujitsu is now making available to end users an installable update for Battery Charging Control, which helps to reduce the potential of a battery-related thermal incident. We have determined that, as the battery-pack used in a mobile device ages, a slight reduction in the charging voltage has a positive impact on maintaining the safe operation of the battery pack. Our update detects battery age and status, and regulates charging voltages accordingly. We encourage you to download and apply this update to your Fujitsu PC.

Because the update varies according to model - and may not be available for all models, please confirm first that your mobile device is on the list of the supported models. The list of supported models can be found here.

To install and download the update for Battery Charging Control, please go to Fujitsu support page and proceed with the following actions:

  1. Select “Browse For Product”.
  2. Select your “Product Line”.
  3. Select your “Product Group” and “Product Family”.
  4. Select your operating system.
  5. Select the folder “Applications”
  6. Select “Tools and Utilities”
  7. Download and install the update for Battery Charging Control Utility

A detailed step-by-step instruction for the installation can be found here.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Depending on the battery package/condition, the battery pack runtime on one charge will be reduced (in some instances) by as much as 35% after this update.

In addition, end users should remember that all battery-packs in mobile devices are consumable components that require a periodic replacement. Even if the mobile device is used with power from the AC adapter, over time the battery-pack will age, hold less charge, and ultimately must be replaced. Please consider the purchase of a new battery-pack to maximize the utility and safety of your mobile device. Please contact your local dealer to purchase new batteries.

From time to time, a battery-pack manufacturer may bring to Fujitsu’s attention the need for a product recall. If the battery-pack in your mobile device is recalled, you should follow the instructions that will be provided in each such instance to obtain a replacement.
